EVAP Rebates

Below is a list of affordable electric vehicles (EVs) with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $50,000 or less that Canadians can consider when buying or leasing an EV and taking advantage of incentives offered under the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), based on the final value of the transaction. The key factor for incentive eligibility is the final value of the transaction, which cannot exceed $50,000. This list is provided for informational purposes only. If a vehicle is not on the list but meets the eligibility criteria and the final value of the transaction is $50,000 or less, the transaction may qualify for the incentive. Furthermore, there is no upper limit on the transaction value of Canadian-made EVs.

The fact that a vehicle is listed does not guarantee that every transaction for every model will qualify for an incentive. To be eligible for a PAVE incentive, the final transaction value must be $50,000 or less.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for an incentive, a vehicle must:

  • to be purchased or leased* from February 16, 2026
  • have a final transaction value that does not exceed $50,000
    • Note: There is no cap on the final transaction value of EVs manufactured in Canada
  • be manufactured in Canada or in countries that have entered into free trade agreements with Canada
  • Comply with all Canadian motor vehicle safety standards
  • be suitable for use on motorways (no low-speed vehicles) and intended for use on public roads
  • have at least 4 functional wheels
  • to be a new vehicle, that is to say a vehicle registered for the first time
    • Eligible EVs with less than 10,000 km on the odometer are considered demonstration vehicles (vehicles that buyers can test drive at a dealership).
  • There are 2 levels of incentives:
    • up to $5,000 for battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
    • up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrid vehicles

*Transactions initiated before February 16, 2026 are not eligible for an incentive, regardless of the delivery date.

Note: Incentives will decrease over the course of the program. The incentive you receive will be based on the date your dealer submits the eligibility assessment to Transport Canada (not the vehicle purchase or lease date or the vehicle delivery date).
