What Makes a Vehicle Eligible for EVAP? 

In order to qualify for a rebate via the EVAP program a vehicle must fit the following criteria: 

  • Be bought or leased on or after February 16, 2026 
  • Have a final transaction value of $50,000 or less
  • Be made in Canada, or in countries that have a free-trade agreement with Canada 
  • Meet all of Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 
  • Be highway-capable (no low-speed vehicles) and meant for use on public roads
  • Have at least four functioning wheels
  • Be a new vehicle, meaning a vehicle registered for the first time 
    • Eligible EVs with an odometer with less than 10,000 km qualify as demonstrators (vehicles that buyers can test drive at a dealership)
